Travel Treasure : Kamianets-Podilsky, Ukraine

Just outside of the Carpathian mountain region in Western Ukraine lies the darling little town of Kamianets-Podilsky.  Yes, it's a mouthful, but this cute little town is easy on the pockets and the eyes!  Due to quite an active past, it has Armenian, Polish, Turkish, and Ukrainian influences throughout:

The town's top claims to Ukrainian fame are it's position on a natural island (formed by an extreme bend in the river) with towering bluffs all around it, AND it's pretty 14th century castle-like fortress that guards the town's access. The castle is awaiting it's place on the list of potential UNESCO Heritage sites; in the meantime, it enjoys its nationalistic status as one of the Seven Wonders of Ukraine:

As it's still winter in these parts, the best thing to do in KP is wander the little lanes and cobbled streets, which are no doubt over-flowing with little cafes and clanks of beer-mugs in the summertime:

Fortunately, while we were there, each day the blue sky faded into a simple. pretty sunset:

This place is one of those hidden Travel Treasures that keeps the wanderlust in me excited no matter how big or small or well-known a place may or may not be!
