Travel Treasure : Brooklyn, New York

It's arguably the coolest place in America.  The birthplace of the hipster.  The reborn borough of Bohemian chic.  What was once the butt of all New York jokes has people from all over trying to get in on a little Brooklyn-cool before it's, well, widely considered cool.  Brooklyn is not what one usually thinks of when pondering over "must-dos" in New York City, but I'm here to tell you that it was one of our favorite places on our recent visit to NYC.

One of the best breweries we've been to:  good brews, great atmosphere, handy wooden beer tokens!

Take the subway to the end of the line in Brooklyn and you'll be greeted by historic Coney Island.  It's not anything close to its early to mid-century hey-day, but with its lively boardwalk, restaurants, 1918 ferris wheel, and one of the oldest wooden roller-costers in the States (1927) it still doesn't disappoint for an afternoon of fun and folly!

There's a lot of hype surrounding Brooklyn nowadays, but take it from us, it definitely lives up to every part of it.  Hipsters and all.
